Tema Q

The research unit of Culture Studies (Tema Q) examines the roles, functions and manifestations of cultural processes in society. We conduct problem oriented and inter-disciplinary research and our staff and post-graduates come from different disciplinary fields, primarily within the social sciences and humanities.
Tema Q organizes its post-graduate program and research within broadly defined fields, such as cultural heritage, cultural politics and economy, media and cultural representation, popular culture, modernization processes and culture, democracy and literature. However, these fields are not static and they often overlap in the various projects conducted at the unit. This multidisciplinary approach also characterize Tema Q’s seminars and PhD Courses.
Tema Q presently has around 30 members of staff, with post-graduate students, research assistants, lecturers, professors and administrative staff. This research unit, with its post-graduate program, is part of the Department for Studies of Social Change and Culture (ISAK). Tema Q currently conducts research within the following three wider thematic fields.
