Welcome to The Department of History

A short presentation

Research and research education are oriented towards social history. Processes of social change at local, national and international levels are the focus of this research. Aspects of identities, everyday-life and welfare are important factors which are studied in both the agrarian and the industrial environment. The undergraduate history programme includes courses at all levels in general Swedish and international history from the pre-historic period to the contemporary world, with economic-historical aspects integrated.

Emphasis is placed on the development of critical thinking.
